Accommodation

Hostel (4 km from site) and camping in tents directly at the site. We have had many volunteers apply this year so unfortunately we cannot pay hostel accommodation for everybody. Therefore people who are travelling from overseas e.g. Australia will be given preference. If you are not arriving from overseas and you would prefer to stay in the hostel (instead of camping at the site), we can book your accommodation in the hostel, but you will need to let us know by the end of May (at the very latest). The cost of a hostel bed will be 205 Kc (8 euro) per person per night (sharing with one other person), or 410 Kc (16 euro) if you want your own room.

For those accommodated in hostel:

The hostel is provided by us from August 9 to 25. Reception is open 24 hours and they will already have your names. If you must arrive one day early or late due to unforeseen circumstances, please let us know and we may be able to change the booking. For camping:

If you are camping at the site you need to bring your own sleeping bag and pad. We would prefer if you bring your own tent, but if you don’t, places will be available in a large communal tent. Basic washing (water tank) and cooking facilities (small gas stove and grill) will be available. We will transport drinking water in PET bottles to the site. It is recommended you bring your own saucepan, cup, and cutlery. Field conditions will be basic including mobile toilets and field benches. As the car will go almost daily to the hostel and Institute, excavators will be transported to showers on a rotational basis. More details will be posted later.
