Up to date info from 2016 excavation

• 11/IX: As usually, in the last day around noon we discovered a hearth. We found 1 artifact (a proximal blade fragment with faceted striking platform made from the Krumlovský les-type chert), three microflakes and a large flake of local microdiorite (heavy-duty industry?). Unfortunately, the best artifacts - Levallois points - were collected on the surface.
• 10/IX: We worked in hot days in the middle of the field from sunrise to sunset. The relicts of artifact bearing sediments rich in charcoal are just bellow topsoil.
• 9/IX: We moved us and our equipment to Ořechov IV for a small-scale (weekend) excavation. We opened for excavation an area of 21.5 square meters.
• 31/VIII: First draft of horizontal distribution map for both 2015&2016 excavations is available. A new article about Líšeň dig.
• 30/VIII: Backfilled.
• 24/VIII: We successfully completed the excavation. We are very grateful to all our volunteers. We are the champions of the shells! Another short report about our excavation in local journal.
• 23/VIII: We are finishing the last squares. Our discoveries were reported on Czech TV24. And in CT1 headlines.
• 22/VIII: We continued digging.
• 21/VIII: Heavy rain interupted our digging and damaged our trench. We have lost a day.
• 20/VIII: We documented dark lense rich in charcoal in upper left cerner of our trench. We collected good charcoal samples suitable for dating.
• 19/VIII: We continue digging and wet sieving. We documented 2010 test pit within S-N oriented profile.
• 16/VIII: We have more shells and tools - including Jerzmanowice-type point and a proximal fragment of Levallois point. We celebrated finds with an evening party.
• 15/VIII: The Fire Brigade fills our water tanks every second day. We found a first mollusc shell. We have found another piece of the puzzle.
• 14/VIII: Sunday is a normal working day.
• 13/VIII: We woke up to a foggy morning.
• 12/VIII: The excavation is continuing ... We celebrated the end of first week with goulash and a barell of beer. Our excavation was reported in the local newspaper.
• 11/VIII: No rain! Only wet ground. We have started digging and wet sieving and we have first artifacts.
• 10/VIII: After a night of rain the the site was soaked so we had a day off.
• 9/VIII: We cleaned the surface of the artifact bearing horizon and started excavating. Unfortunately, our work was interrupted by afternoon rain.
• 8/VIII: We transported all equipment to the site and Líšeň Fire Brigade filled our water tanks with water.
• 7/VIII: We successfully identified the edge of the 2015 dig and the topsoil from the 2016 area was removed by a mechanical scraper.
